Are you looking to improve your fitness but aren’t … ahem … in the best of shape? Maybe it’s been a while since your last workout and you feel a little intimidated by Boot Camp or a vigorous Spin class, but you want the structure and motivation a class offers. What is available for you at the Club at Town Center?

Sports & Fitness coordinator Camille Porter has some recommendations for you. “Any one of these classes would work for people who are just getting back into regular exercise,” she says.

Chair Yoga with Nancy: This is the ultimate class for those with balance or mobility issues. Chair Yoga is a gentle form of Hatha Yoga done while seated or standing next to a chair for support. You will learn and practice breathing techniques (Pranayama), Mindfulness, Yoga postures (Asanas) and stage-by-stage relaxation (Savasana) – all with the aid of a chair. It will help you stretch and tone muscles, gain more flexibility and mobility and improve your balance, bone density, strength, circulation and breathing. When: 8-9 am on Mondays and 4-5 pm on Thursdays

Fundamental Yoga: Introduces the principles of alignment and breath work in a flow of postures. Students will be introduced to basic yoga postures through step-by-step verbal description and demonstration. This class is beginner-friendly. When: 1:30-2:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays

FX (Functional) Fitness with Angela: All fitness levels are welcome to join this class which utilizes cardio movement and strength patterns designed to increase flexible strength for daily living activities. Make your body stronger, protect joints and prevent injury with little to no equipment necessary. When: 5:30-6:25 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays

Basic Cardio Step with Cindy:  Basic step choreography is combined with strength training intervals in a variety of fun styles. Different levels of intensity are provided to ensure everyone gets the most out of their workout. This is an excellent cross-training class for all skill and fitness levels. When: 9:30-10:30 am on Wednesdays

Pickleball: A beginner friendly racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and ping pong. Pickleball is open to anyone who wants to play, and the Club provides all the equipment you need! This is a fun, low-impact way to get in a good cardio workout. When: 12:45-3:15 pm on Mondays and Wednesday and 12:30-3:00 pm on Saturdays.

Aqua Fit (spring/summer/fall): This invigorating and joint-friendly workout is held in the lap pool. Because water is much denser than air, each stroke, movement, and kick is met with resistance, which increases muscle and ligament flexibility.
