Coats for homeless veterans
Do you have any new or gently used jackets or coats you could donate to help homeless veterans? The Wild Whimsical Women (WWW) would like to collect 120 coats for the Veterans Stand Down on Sept 21 at the Capitol Hill Veterans Outreach Center in Reno.
The Veterans Stand Down is a one-day, recovery-oriented event which connects veterans to medical and psychiatric treatment, substance abuse counseling, personal needs (such as clothing), housing and employment information. By contributing to Stand Down, you will help homeless veterans and their families will receive much-needed services in one location.
Take your donations to The Club at Town Center before Sunday, Sept. 16, and place them in the Helping Hands Barrel just inside the main entrance. Please mark each jacket on the outside with the size for easier sorting. Mens’ jackets are needed most.
Veterans Stand Down is also looking for small rolling suitcases which homeless veterans use to carry their belongings and food. The suitcases should be placed in or next to the Helping Hands barrel as well.
